MISSION

To create community through service and the arts, reflecting the cultural diversity of,

and affection for, South Natomas, benefiting all who live and work here,

and to provide the promise of a better life for future generations.

Please help fully develop the vision by becoming a founding board member.  Although formed August 7, 2019, SNIA spent the first year obtaining IRS nonprofit status and in the development of our website.  The second year was the pandemic which put everyone's world on pause.  At this time, SNIA is reviving the process of building the Board of Directors and will start general membership meetings at a time to be determined.

SNIA will act as an advocate for the South Natomas community as a whole.  SNIA will not be in competition with other organizations that represent neighborhoods within South Natomas, but will act as a partner with all such organizations.

The board will reflect the diversity in age, gender, ethnicity, experience and socio-economic status that exists in our community; youth membership is highly desirable.  Applications from people from all backgrounds and ages are encouraged.  Potential board members will need to commit significant time and energy.  Service may include meetings and other activities.  Interest in the arts (broadly understood), historical preservation and public safety is desirable.  Other specific skills, including organizational development, grant writing, fundraising, construction, public relations or law are desirable but not required.  A willingness to get one's feet wet and learn can be just as important.  Board members should expect to serve for at least two years.  Youth board members should expect to serve for one year.  Founding board membership is by appointment and subsequent board member seats will be filled by general membership elections.  If interested in serving please contact Founder & President, Sharon Jennings.
